Tommy Natola has been a positive influence in many young lives over the years. He holds advanced degrees in education, including a CAGS from UMASS Boston, M.Ed. from Antioch College, and BS from Boston State College. Over the course of his career, Tom has taught grade school children and served as the Vice Principal for Beechwood Knoll and Merrymount Elementary School. His passion for theater has inspired him to write, direct and produce a variety of plays for young children. In doing so, it allows him the flexibility to change the play to fit the children’s talents, creativity and individual personalities. These performances are often their first exposure to acting, singing and dancing in a play. Creative dramatics is an integral part of his approach. The children experience that the process of learning their parts, working together, supporting one another, taking risks is as important to the play as presenting a finished production. His plays and musicals span a wide variety of topics and genres: The Lace Snail Children’s play adapted from the book, Camp Frozen Children’s contemporary musical, Ming Ue Chinese Historic Fiction with acting and traditional dance, Aesop’s Fairytale Children’s play with Irish dance, Rhythm of the Prideland Children’s play with African dance, Beethoven is NOT a Dog! Children’s musical comedy, Miming My Own Business Everyday life situation expressed through mime. Tom is excited to be joining the faculty at MMAS!
