Exhibition Rules and Regulations:

1) The Gallery will retain a 30% commission on works sold which is considered a tax deductible donation to MMAS.

2) Accepted work must be presented or framed appropriately and gallery-ready. Pieces should be wired approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of the way down from the top of the piece. No saw tooth hangers. We will not accept work that does not meet these guidelines. If pieces do not appear as they did in submission or are not in good gallery-ready condition, the gallery reserves the right not to hang them for the exhibition.

3) Open to photography, and work measuring less than 40″ vertically and horizontally including the frame.

4) Work must remain at the gallery thru the entire exhibition.

5) All entries must be original works of the artist and cannot have been previously exhibited at the Morini Gallery.

6) The gallery reserves the right to exclude works deemed inappropriate.

7) All entries accepted will be eligible for publication in MMAS promotional materials and press releases.

8) By agreeing to these terms, the artist understands that while MMAS handles all work with the utmost care, MMAS is not responsible for loss or damage.

9) Work that is unclaimed after 90 days from the scheduled show pick up date will be considered a donation to the Morini Gallery.

10) Diptychs and Triptychs should have one price if framed together in one frame and will count as one submission. If framed seperatly please consider the work separate entries.

About the jurors:

Vicki McKenna:

Landscape forms, rocks and sediments are elements of a story if you know how to read them. Vicki McKenna uses photography to tell these stories from the places that she explores. As a geologist and teacher, McKenna started taking photographs to use in class. Soon she became challenged by the task of representing a three-dimensional world with an engaging, two-dimensional image. Capturing photos of simplicity, subtlety, and serenity, Vicki McKenna’s work transmits a genuine sense of place.

After earning a PhD in Geological Sciences from Brown University and ALB in Natural Sciences from Harvard University, McKenna studied photography at the New England School of Photography and the Photography Atelier at the Griffin Museum. As a core member of Fountain Street gallery, McKenna had a two-person show, At the Edge. She has had juried solo shows at the Firehouse Center for the Arts, Newburyport and the Newton Free Library, and has exhibited throughout New England and along the East Coast. Among those are the Danforth Museum, Framingham, MA, the Cambridge Art Association, Cambridge, MA, PhotoPlace Gallery, Burlington, VT, and the Kiernan Gallery, Lexington, VA. McKenna has taught a freshman seminar focused on photography at M.I.T., where she also photographs for student programs and events. McKenna works from Riverwandering Studio in Newton, MA.

Jackie Heitchue:

Jackie Heitchue’s nomadic childhood spanned the country, from the suburbs of Los Angeles to Ohio and Virginia.  Finally settling in New England with her husband and children, the move felt like a homecoming, a sentiment borne out by a family lineage of Puritans, indentured servants, and an unfortunate Salem witch.  Ruminating over these historic connections while engrossed in the daily minutia of child-rearing, Jackie became fascinated with the universal themes of family and motherhood that connect one generation to the next. Whether photographing her children as they grew up, or creating her most recent still lifes, her work is both deeply personal and allegorical.

Heitchue has worked as a photographer most of her life.  After graduating with a BFA from the Corcoran School of Art, she was an award-winning photojournalist for a chain of newspapers in the suburbs of Washington, D.C.  From there, she worked as a freelancer, a printer at the Library of Congress, and taught photography to high school students.  Her current work has shown in galleries in New England, including two solo shows at the Griffin Museum of Photography. Farther afield, her work was selected for publication and exhibition in the Portfolio showcase at the Center for Fine Art Photography in Colorado. She was recently honored with a Gold Award from the San Francisco Bay International Photography Exhibition and has also participated in shows at the Southeast Center for Photography in South Carolina and the Candela Gallery in Virginia.
