2024 Beautiful Serendipity

Beautiful Serendipity

On Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5th a snafu in scheduling turned into a delightful joining of two generations of artists. So, it was …

…while our Academy students were in class in the studio, the cast of Beautiful was in the dressing room getting ready for an added matinee performance necessitated by a sold-out run. The previously unscheduled performance conflicted with our afternoon class, but arrangements had been made to ensure that the class would be released prior to the start of the Beautiful performance. All was well; however, the dismissal time did not allow for the cast’s performance warm-up.

The Academy students were asked if the cast of Beautiful could watch some of their rehearsal, after which, both the class and the cast could participate in a warm-up together. The students could not have been more excited. The Beautiful cast received the students’ rehearsal with generous applause and attentiveness; they appeared touched by the kids’ performance and perhaps gently triggered to recall their own days as young aspiring artists.  Two generations of theatre enthusiasts came together serendipitously and the outcome was, well, Beautiful. Sometimes conflicts can be occasions where magic happens. At least that’s how it was the afternoon of Saturday, October 5.
