Written by William Shakespeare
Directed by Steve Dooner
Macbeth is a dark and tragic tale by William Shakespeare that delves into the psychology of ambition, power, and moral conscience. It follows the rise and fall of Macbeth, a Scottish nobleman and General of King Duncan’s forces. When Three Witches prophesize that he will become king, Macbeth’s ambition is ignited. Spurred on by his wife, Lady Macbeth, he murders King Duncan to seize the throne. However, their reign is plagued by paranoia, tyranny, and guilt, leading to their ultimate downfall. This version of Macbeth will be uniquely set in the political world of the 1970s, offering a fresh perspective on the timeless themes.
