Anna, an 18-year-old actress, arrives in a college rehearsal studio to seek coaching to help land the lead in a production of Romeo and Juliet. She meets an acting instructor, Curt, who provides harsh critique, yet the encounter forms a powerful bond between the two in the psychological drama, “Breaking the Shakespeare Code.” The pair’s 16-year relationship plays out as they deceive and manipulate one another while exploring human nature in some of Shakespeare’s most intricate works.

The production is written by local playwright John Minigan, directed by two-time DASH award winning director Michael McGarty, and stage-managed by two-time DASH winner Katelyn Miller.

Joe Rich, a Dedham resident with numerous acting credits in local drama, plays Curt, the cynical theater teacher. Alongside him will be Catherine Haverkampf as Anna Sommers, an aspiring young actress.

DASH (Distinguished Awards and Service Honors) is a competitive, peer-adjudicated awards program in which member groups of the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres participate.
