Comedy Night – June 12 – $20

Outdoor stand-up comedy returns to Mass Music & Arts Society (MMAS) with two shows on Saturday, June 12, 2021, featuring headliner Steve Bjork. The outdoor shows take place behind the theater, located at 888 South Main Street in Mansfield (across from the XFinity Center) at 6 and 8 p.m.
Bjork appears with three other hilarious Boston comedians: Chris D., Mr. B (Jimmy Bowes) and host Dave Rattigan. The show is presented with MMAS and Scamps Comedy Productions.
Tickets are $20 per person, and patrons can look toward the stage and the picturesque Norton Reservoir. Cooked food will be available for purchase at 5 p.m., then 7:30 p.m., prior to each show. Food donations benefit Dana Farber’s Pan Mass Challenge. Beer and wine will also be available, with proceeds benefiting MMAS. There will be a tent to protect the audience in case of rain.
Many of our audience members said that getting out of their homes and coming to our shows last summer was a great release for them on Saturday nights, even if they were sitting in their cars or on lawn chairs in a parking lot. This year we’ve made some changes that will enhance the audience experience. People are really going to have a great time.”
Ken Butler, executive director, MMAS
Other dates for standup comedy this summer are June 26, July 24, August 7 and August 21.
About the comedians

Cited as one of the top names in Boston comedy by The Boston Globe, Steve Bjork has shared the stage with acts including Dane Cook, Steven Wright, Dom Irrerra, Dave Chappelle, Gilbert Gottfried, Joe Rogan, Dana Gould and Tommy Chong. He also once opened for the legendary musical group The Platters.
Bjork knows about life on the road – he crossed the country as a headlining stand-up comedian – and at home. In his hometown of Wilmington, Mass., he edited the town’s newspaper and was awarded “The Good Guy Award” from the Rotary Club. In 2012, he and his wife adopted four homeless children who would have otherwise been separated.

Peabody’s Chris Dimitrakopoulos, also called Chris D. by the many people who can’t pronounce his last name, is a much-requested Boston comedian known for his imitations of his Greek father. He works regularly at clubs and fundraisers, after making an early name for himself with wins in comedy contests including “The North Shore’s Next Big Catch” in Beverly and “Witch City Comedy Contest” in Salem, and a finalist in the “Boynton’s Standup Standoff” in Manchester, N.H. He works in theaters frequently as the opening act for Juston McKinney and has performed on shows with top Boston/national headliners including Robert Kelly, Juston McKinney, Tony V., Paul D’Angelo and Joe Wong.

Jimmy Bowes, aka Mr. B, is a teacher-turned-comedian with observations culled from his own whacky life. He shares those observations on Boston comedy stages with great success, gigging at top clubs and fundraisers. He’s shared the stage with some of the biggest stars in Boston comedy, including Steve Sweeney, Jimmy Dunn, Tony V and Christine Hurley.
Mr B works at top comedy clubs in and around Boston, including Nick’s Comedy Stop and the Comedy Scene in Foxboro. A day job as a teacher and small kids at home give him both fodder for his act and a reason to stay away from the house. He’s worked theaters and resorts performing with top Boston headliners such as Steve Sweeney, Tony V., Paul D’Angelo, Corey Rodrigues, Dave Rattigan, Christine Hurley and Paul Nardizzi, Will Noonan and Orlando Baxter.

Boston headliner Dave Rattigan will be the host all summer at MMAS. He used the pandemic break to develop a mini-social media series called Covid Variety, as well as a virtual version of his Put Laughter in Your Life seminar on improving your life by changing your perspective, available to libraries and private companies. In addition to MMAS, he’s performed at such venues as the South Shore Music Circus, Portsmouth Music Hall and Cape Cod Melody Tent. His CD, Dave Rattigan: Thinks He’s Funny CD was played on Sirius Satellite Radio and he’s written humorous pieces for several publications, including The Boston Globe and Christian Science Monitor. He wrote and produced funny webisodes from the Post Office Golf League series, and also acted in the independent film Heavy Times and in commercials for iParty and Olympia Sports. He’s performed several times on the syndicated Steve Katsos Show, doing standup as well as a behind-the-scenes piece.
